Questions ~ we’ve got answers
How does a color run work?
You will begin as a clean canvas wearing white, but by the time you reach the finish line, you will be a walking rainbow of color. Throughout the course your face and body will be coated with blue, green, pink, purple and yellow like you attended a tie-dye party!
At the finish line every 15-20 minutes everyone will grab handfuls of color from their color packets and pummel each other with color! Good news…non-runners can also participate in this part of the fun! Extra color packets will be for sale for $4. So grab your friends, family, and frenemies to join this colorful event!!
What am I being colored with?
At each of the color stations on the course you will be “painted” with a non-toxic colored corn-starch.
Where can I Color the Hill?
Meet us at the Glenwood Elementary School in Chapel Hill. Or catch the free Color the Hill Shuttle from the Dean Smith Center (Dean Dome) every 20-30 minutes beginning at 8:30 am.
Sounds like a blast! How do I sign up?
What do I get for my registration fee?
First, you get to have a BLAST (of color that is) with your family and friends! You will also receive a very cool Color the Hill t-shirt, a very stylish pair of sunglasses, a color packet to use at the finish line or at the after party, and a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing you have donated to three local charities! Awww!! Can’t beat that, right? Thought so.
How do I rid myself of color?
Well, we suggest using soap, cold water, and lots of elbow grease. If you are blonde, it helps to use some leave-in conditioner or olive oil beforehand. It may take 1-2 washes to get the color out. Goggles or glasses to cover your eyes will help. You will be given a pair of sunglasses in your race packet. A bandana is always be a stylish way to reduce color to the face as well.
How do I preserve the color in my clothing?
The best way to preserve the color is to spray with vinegar, let it dry, then iron it.
Which charities will Color the Hill benefit?
Three local non-profit organizations (Academy of Information Technology-CHCCS; Be Loud! Sophie Foundation and SKJAJA Fund) will receive funds from this event see our Charities page for additional information regarding these organizations.
